A different county, and older houses.
Concord is not just Charlotte with a different sign on the road. It sits in Cabarrus County, which means a different permit office from the Union and Mecklenburg work that fills most of our week, and it has a much wider spread of housing ages than the subdivisions south of the city.
What we run into in Concord houses
The two halves of Concord's housing stock want almost opposite things from a painter. The older streets near the historic downtown bring plaster, deep trim profiles, layered old paint and the occasional surprise behind a window. The newer subdivisions bring builder-grade single-coat walls that have never had a proper repaint.
Neither is a problem. Both are a reason to look at the house in person before quoting, which is why we do not price from photographs.

About half of what we do in Cabarrus County is not painting at all. The 1980s and 1990s houses in Concord and the newer ones across Harrisburg share the same two rooms that date first: a kitchen with sound boxes and a tired finish, and a bathroom with a fiberglass tub-shower unit that somebody wants turned into a tiled walk-in.

Is Concord too far for you?
For a full exterior, a kitchen, a bath or a whole-house interior, no. For a single small repair it probably is, and we will say so rather than quote a number padded to cover the drive. That is a better outcome for both of us than a crew that resents the trip.
Do you work on older houses near downtown Concord?
Yes, and they need a different approach from a 2005 subdivision house. Older Concord housing stock brings plaster, out-of-square framing, layers of old paint and sometimes lead-era coatings. If a house is old enough for lead paint to be a question, that gets addressed before anyone starts sanding.
Who handles permits in Concord?
Concord is in Cabarrus County, not Union or Mecklenburg, so it is a different permit office from most of our work. That matters to the schedule rather than the price, and we build it in rather than discovering it in week two.
Do you do commercial work around the Speedway corridor?

Can you refinish kitchen cabinets rather than replace them?
